Materials:   Walnut, Hard Maple, Purple Heart, Cedar
The tree is made from laminated Walnut. The bottom limbs were laminated and bent to hold the shelves. The back panel is made from three (3) pieces of Hard Maple glued together. The leaves are made from Red Cedar. Base and top are dadoed and the back panel glued into them. Base and top are inlayed with Purple Heart. Back posts are Walnut with Purple Heart inlay. Front posts are Walnut with Hard Maple inlay.
 
Shelves are plexiglass with Walnut frame. Leaves are made of Tennessee Red Cedar, hand cut and formed. Limbs were inserted into the tree using mortise and tenon joinery.
 
Base and top are dadoed and the back panel glued into them. Posts are attached to top and base with mortise and tenon joinery. Finish is five (5) coats of Formby's Tung Oil.
 
This is my first attempt at a wall cabinet. I built this for my wife to hold her collection of hummingbirds.
