This was an original design to display my grandfather's 1893 Winchester 12 gauge shotgun. I wanted the viewer's eye to be drawn to the gun, but wanted the design to show his strength and my respect. I used Pocket joinery throughout the project, with an inset of oak at each end. I don't have a formal shop, so the entire project was constructed at a workbench in my garage. The finish was a waterbase stain, poly semi-gloss finish, along with hand waxing.
