This is a hand woodburned seaside scene.  The cabinet has a 1" diameter dowel for hanging a handtowel. I built this for our bathroom to hold vitamin bottles and other bathroom items.  This was the first cabinet I built.  I would like to take the oppotunity to thank everyone who made this possible. I learned a great deal and appreciate the complexity of cabinet making. I wanted to make dovetail joints but could not afford the jigs and other components necessary. I found a book at the library that showed how you could make dovetails with a scroll saw and chisel. I tried it and it came out great, although it was a little time consuming.  I learned a great deal about the complexity of hinges.  It took a while but I came up with a way of mounting the doors that resulted in a tight fit and orientation that I required.  The wood was sanded with 120 grit to start followed by 180 grit and finished with 220 grit. Then 3 coats of polyurethane were applied, sanding in between with 220 grit.  The cabinet can have up to 4 shelves. The shelves can be removed to allow for higher shelf capacity.  The shelves are held in place by 1/4" dowels drilled into the side piece.

RJ : An excellent first effort. It's obvious you've learned much and I want to encourage you to continue practicing and learning.
